About Collectoh
Your collection deserves a proper home.
Most of us keep a collection somewhere, whether or not we'd call it one. Collectoh exists to turn it into a library the whole household loves to use, without handing any of it to anyone else.
Why we build it
A collection, not a catalogue.
Films bought on disc and ripped to a drive. Albums tagged by hand, one evening at a time. Audiobooks, comics, a folder of courses bought in a sale and saved for later, and every photo since the children were small. It took years to gather, and it usually lives in a tangle of folders that only one person in the house can find their way around.
Streaming services lend you a catalogue, and the catalogue changes whenever someone else decides it should. Collectoh works the other way round. It organises and plays what you already own, and nothing else: there's no shop, no rentals and no adverts.
We also think a film, an album, a course and a photo album aren't the same thing, so Collectoh doesn't pretend they are. Seasons play in order and skip their intros. Albums play without a gap. Books open where you left them. Courses keep your progress and your notes. Photos gather by the people and places in them.
And it all runs on the computer or NAS that already holds your media. What you watch is yours to know about, and nobody else's.
What we hold to
Six promises.
Yours stays yours
Your media and what you watch stay on your hardware. Faces, tags and listening are worked out there too, and nothing is sent to us.
Your files are safe
Collectoh reads your folders and never changes them. Deleting something in the app never deletes the file.
Every kind of media
Each kind of collection gets a home made for it, not a film library with a new label on the door.
Every screen
Any modern browser, a TV mode for the sofa, DLNA for older televisions, and apps on their way.
Open by default
A documented API, plugins and the file layouts you already use, so your library is never locked in.
Free for the household
Collectoh is free for you and everyone you share with, from films to photos. Plus adds courses, games and full customisation, and pays for the work on everything else.
How we work
Made with care, in the open.
The hard cases first
A scanner is judged by the messy folders, not the tidy ones: release names, anime numbering, courses nested four categories deep. We test against real libraries, and a wrong match is always worse than none.
For everyone who watches
The whole app can be driven with a keyboard or a remote, motion can be reduced, and subtitles can be restyled to suit your eyes. Accessibility is part of the work, not an extra.
Privacy as the default
Face recognition and photo tagging stay off until you switch them on. Everything that looks at your photos, music or transcripts runs on your own server and can be switched off, and face data can be deleted in one place.
Written down
What's new arrives in the changelog each week, the thinking behind it on the blog, and every endpoint in the API reference.
Next: apps for every screen.
Collectoh plays in any modern browser today. Apps for phones, tablets and televisions are on their way, and Plus members get them first.
